LORMAN, Miss. – The seventh-longest active winning-streak in the nation is at stake Saturday when the Alcorn State University men's basketball program hosts Alabama State at 5:30 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex on Senior Night.

The Braves have won eight straight matches for the first time since 2001-02 when they won 20 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. They have not won nine in a row since 1998-99 when they won 12 consecutive contests.

A.J. Mosby has been on fire as of late as he's shooting 11-for-16 (.688) from three-point range over the last three games. He's coming off a career-high 22 points at Grambling State. On the season, Mosby averages 10.0 points per game and fires a team-best .389 from beyond-the-arc.

Reginal Johnson is the team's leading scorer with 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting .547 from the field. He's scored at least 12 points in 22 of the last 23 games. Johnson has scored at least 20 points four times this season including outings of 28 and 27 against Mississippi Valley State.

Alabama State (8-16, 6-6 SWAC) enters the contest on a season-long three-game winning streak. The spurt included home wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff 77-65, Mississippi Valley State 71-66 and Alabama A&M 97-89.

The Hornets are led by Rodney Simeon who averages 12.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Tony Armstrong is also a heavy contributor with 11.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per outing.

The Braves just 0.5 games out of first-place behind Texas Southern. Alabama State is in fifth-place and four games out of first.

Vance is Alcorn's newest member of the 1,000-point club after he surpassed the mark against Blue Mountain on Nov. 22, 2016. He's up to 1,209 career points. Vance ranks top-10 in the league in rebounding, blocks and assists.

- Mosby has tallied 10 double-figure scoring games in his last 11 outings and six in a row. He's the only Brave to start in every game this year and also the only one to play 40 minutes in a contest. In league games, Mosby ranks sixth in the SWAC in assists (2.9 apg), sixth in three-point percentage (.419) and eighth in three-pointers made per game (2.0).

- Averaging just under double-figures, Dulin puts in 9.5 points per affair. He's registered at least eight points in 10 of 14 conference games. Dulin netted a 17-point performance at AAMU. He scored a career-high 20 points at Colorado State on Nov. 27.

- Davis has scored seven double-figure scoring games in his last eight outings including a season-high 20 points at UAPB. Davis is shooting .590 from the field in league games which ranks third. He's also top-10 in rebounding.

- Howard is shooting a team-best .829 from the free throw line, and .844 in league games which is top-five. He's second on the team in three-point percentage with a .378 mark. Howard has made at least one three-pointer in 14 of the last 16 games.
