TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Coming off a series win at Mississippi Valley State, the Alcorn State University baseball program will wrap-up an 11-game road trip Tuesday at Alabama at Sewell Thomas Stadium.

Alcorn (9-22, 5-10 SWAC) took two out of three from the Delta Devils over the weekend. Sophomore Brandon hit for a .462 average and a .923 slugging which included two homers and five RBI.

The Braves moved up to third-place in the SWAC East Division standings. They are ahead of Alabama A&M by two games in the loss column, and MVSU by four in the loss column.

Junior
Wallace Rios Jimenez is on a league-leading 28 game on-base streak. Rios ranks third in the SWAC in on-base percentage with a .481 mark. He also leads the team with a .353 batting average and 12 multi-hit games.

Also hitting above .300, Barna carries a .333 average into Tuesday, while senior
Kirt Cormier is at .316. Cormier is on a 19-game on-base streak.

On the mound, sophomore
Conrado Skepple, who was named to the Preseason All-Conference Second-Team, ranks second in the SWAC with four saves on the season. He hoists a 2.45 ERA in 14 appearances.

The Braves are coming off their first shutout of the season as sophomore
Carlos Lopez went the distance. He struck out four and picked up the win to improve his record to 4-3 on the year.

Alabama (14-22, 2-13 SEC) got swept by Texas A&M over the weekend. The Tide is 12-9 this year in non-conference games. They are 3-1 against the SWAC, all coming against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a series on March 9-12 at home.

Cobie Vance leads the team with a .343 batting average. Chandler Avant is also above .300 with a .318 mark. Hunter Alexander hits for a .298 average and .476 slugging with a team-high 25 RBI and four homers.

The Braves will play their first home game in four weeks Friday when they host Jackson State at 7 p.m. in the first of a three-game series.
