TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – To conclude an 11-game road stretch, the Alcorn State University baseball program fell 18-1 in seven innings to Alabama on Tuesday in a non-conference game at Sewell Thomas Stadium.

Alcorn (9-23, 5-10 SWAC) scored in the fifth inning. Sophomore
Zachary Perez got on-board with a one-out double to left center. With two outs, junior
Wallace Rios Jimenez knocked an RBI hit to left field to score him.

The hit by Rios extended his on-base streak to a league-leading 29 games.

Also with hits in the contest, senior
Walter Vives singled to center in the second inning and senior
Justin Barna singled to left in the fourth. Vives increased his hitting-streak to seven games.

With a walk in the second inning, sophomore
Brandon Barna upped his on-base streak to 12.

Senior
Patrick McMahon got the start and pitched 4.0 innings. Senior
Regynold Johnson pitched the final 0.2 innings and did not give up a run.

Alabama (15-22, 2-13 SEC) was led by Cody Henry who tallied three hits including two homers and seven RBI. The Braves were down just 1-0 in the third inning when he hit a grand slam. Deacon Medders lasted 5.0 innings on the mound and earned the win.

The Crimson Tide scored six in the third, three in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth.

The Braves will play their first home game in four weeks Friday when they host Jackson State at 7 p.m. in the first of a three-game series.
