LORMAN, Miss. – Senior
Patrick McMahon hammered his team-high fourth homer of the year, but the Alcorn State University baseball program fell 12-3 to Alabama State on Saturday at Willie "E" Rat McGowan Stadium.

McMahon's blast led-off the third inning. The lefty pull the ball to right field where it cleared the 330-feet sign and cut Alcorn's (11-30, 7-16 SWAC) to 3-1 at the time. The Braves scored another run that inning on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.

McMahon notched his second RBI of the contest in the sixth inning. He flied out to right field which scored senior
Walter Vives from third who was hit by a pitch to start the frame. Vives moved to second on the first walk of the season by senior
Jason Sanez, and to third on an error.

With a single up the middle in the third inning, junior
Wallace Rios Jimenez extended his league-leading on-base streak to 37 games.

The Hornets (26-23, 17-6 SWAC) were led by Diandre Amion and Carlos Ocasio who recorded four hits apiece. Burke Echelmeier threw a complete-game to pick up the win and struck out seven.

Senior
Daniel Belmont took the loss for Alcorn after striking out eight in 4.0 innings.

Despite the result, Alcorn is locked into the No. 4 seed from the SWAC East Division.

The Braves and the Hornets will close out the regular season Sunday on Senior Day. The senior festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. and first pitch is 30 minutes after. The game can be heard on radio via 91.7 FM or wprl.org with Charles Edmond as the voice of the Braves.
