BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Alcorn State University women's soccer team plays a neutral site conference match against Howard Sunday at the Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex. The game is scheduled for a noon start.
Sunday's match marks just the fourth meeting between the two programs, with the Bison ahead 3-0 in the series.
"The girls are hungry and want a seat at the table," said head coach Junior Noel. "The seniors have been fed scraps through the years and now want a bite out of the prime cuts of the SWAC, teams like Howard. We've trained well and are now ready to step out and represent."
The Lady Braves are led on offense by senior Alexandra Salvador's two goals and assist, followed by redshirt-sophomore Rita Okoro's pair of scores. Freshman goalie Kameran Proby is 2-2 with 20 saves and a shutout.
Alcorn grabbed its first SWAC victory last Sunday with a 3-1 decision at home over Alabama A&M. Okoro, junior Yaira Guardado, and redshirt-senior Viktoriya Mihaylova each scored for the Lady Braves.

The Bison (3-7) are coming off a 2-0 win against Mississippi Valley State on Friday. Aleeya Sawyer came off the bench to open the scoring in the 75th minute, netting a rebound into the back left. She then added a second goal in the final minutes of the game for the final tally. Makela Davidson placed two of four shots on goal and Itohan Nosegbe put both of her shots on target. Keeper Gabrielle Emilien recorded five saves in 70 minutes of work, with Alayah Hightower logging the remaining 20 minutes.
Whitney White leads the team this season with three goals, followed by Sawyer and Kela Gray, both with a pair of goals and an assist.
