HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alcorn State University volleyball program kicks off the week against Alabama A&M Sunday in a 4 p.m. conference match at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium. The Lady Braves then play again Monday in a 7 p.m. match at Alabama State.
Junior Singryd Valadares and freshman Fiapaipai Iosia lead the Alcorn offense with 117 and 106 kills respectively. Freshman Jasmine Chambers is the primary setter with 314 assists, while Iosia and freshman Octavia Dixon have each served 15 aces. On defense, Valadares and junior Alondra Rivera Modesto have tallied 21 and 20 blocks respectively. Iosia leads the team with 265 digs, followed by freshman Kaylyn Latin at 195.

Alabama A&M | Oct. 1 | 4 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (5-13, 5-0) fell to Austin Peay State Wednesday in straight sets. Christina White scored 10 kills and Brooke Moore added nine to lead the offense, with Kristen Stucker contributing 25 assists. Allie O'Reilly made seven digs and Stucker and Ashley Slay both recorded four blocks.
A&M leads the all-time series 42-5.
Alabama State | Oct. 2 | 7 p.m.
The Lady Hornets went 5-0 at the SWAC Round-Up, capped off by a 3-1 victory over host Texas Southern. Bayle' Bennett led Alabama State in four of five matches last weekend. She totaled 14 kills and seven digs against Texas Southern, followed by Ni'yesha Brown with 13 kills and seven digs. Kori Kutsch wracked up 44 assists and nine digs.
Alabama State holds a 35-20 edge in the all-time series.
