Mosby Drafted in Second Round of NBA G-League by Northern Arizona Suns

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – With the 36th pick in the 2018 NBA G-League Draft, the Northern Arizona Suns selected former Alcorn State University men's basketball standout A.J. Mosby to a professional contract.

Mosby left his home in Carterville, Georgia on Sunday morning to arrive for the team's first practice Monday.

"I'm really excited for him. He's put in all the work and deserves all the blessings that are coming to him," said Alcorn head coach Montez Robinson. "This is a great opportunity for him and his family as he continues to represent our University and make everyone proud."

Mosby was a 2017-18 HBCU All-America Second-Team honoree. He led Alcorn last year in scoring, assists, steals, three-point percentage and field goal percentage.

As the only Brave to start every game last season, Mosby ranked first in the SWAC in both assist:turnover ratio and free throw percentage. He netted 27 double-figure scoring games including six 20-plus outings.

On the year, Mosby averaged 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in 32.2 minutes per outing with a 1.9 assist:turnover ratio. He shot .400 from beyond-the-arc which ranks third all-time in single-season history, and .866 from the free throw line which ranks second in the school's single-season record book.

Mosby's career-high came at Grambling State when he registered 28 points to go along with eight rebounds. He dished out a career-high nine assists against Texas Southern at home and scored 10 points.

To cap off his collegiate career, Mosby was a member of Team SWAC in the inaugural Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship and helped the team reach the final four out of 32 conferences.

According to gleague.nba.com, the G-League is the official minor league basketball association of the NBA.
