BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Riding a three-game winning-streak, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will look to stay hot Tuesday when it travels to UAB for a 3 p.m. contest at Bartow Arena.

The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but was moved earlier due to UAB's (6-4) football bowl game.

The Braves (4-6) are coming off home wins over Rust College 103-66, Champion Christian 109-45 and Fisk University 75-45. Alcorn improved to 4-0 at home this year where is has outscored the opposition 366-211.

Additionally, Alcorn is attempting to win four consecutive non-conference games for the first time since 1991-92.

Though, Alcorn is looking for its first road win of the season against UAB (6-4).

The sharp-shooting Braves lead the SWAC in three-pointers made per game with 8.8. Individually, Howard is first in the league with 3.6 threes per outing. Alcorn also leads the conference in scoring defense (69.5 ppg) and steals (8.64 s/pg).

Junior Deshaw Andrews ranks first in the league in steals with 2.1 per game. He averages 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Andrews tallied back-to-back 20-plus outings with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Savannah State, and a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds at Mississippi State.

Howard averages a team-high 14.4 points per game. He poured in a career-high 26 points on eight three-pointers against Rust. Howard also netted seven three-pointers vs. Blue Mountain and registered a career-high 24 points. He ranks second in the SWAC in minutes per game (33.4 mpg), third in three-point percentage (.400), fourth in assists (3.7 apg) and five in assist:turnover ratio (1.1).

The Blazers, who are 4-0 at home this year, are coming off a tough 75-71 overtime defeat against No. 8 Auburn. Alcorn will be the second SWAC opponent on UAB's schedule after the Blazers defeated Alabama A&M 67-57 on Nov. 29.

Zach Bryant leads the team with 12.9 points per game. Jalen Perry and Lewis Sullivan also average in double-figures with 10.7 and 10.6 points per outing, respectively. As a team, the Blazers carry a +6.9 rebounding margin.

NOTES
- Alcorn is seeking its first-ever win over UAB in program history. It will be the sixth meeting all-time between the two schools.

- In the win over Champion Christian, sophomore
Troymain Crosby registered the second triple-double in school history with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He averages 11.1 points per outing with three consecutive double-figure scoring games including a career-high 22 points against Rust College.

Reginal Johnson has returned to the court after sitting out for nearly 12 months. He etched 14 points off the bench in his first game back against Blue Mountain. Johnson, an 1,100-point scorer, was the 2017-18 SWAC Preseason Player of the Year, but broke his leg in the non-conference against Tulane and missed the rest of the way. He was a 2016-17 HBCU All-American and led Alcorn in scoring as a junior with 15.6 points per outing.

- The Braves are one of three teams in the country without a freshman on the roster along with South Alabama and UT-Martin.

- Alcorn is in the midst of a loaded non-conference schedule which includes trips to Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Kent State, Liberty, Mississippi State, UAB and South Florida.
