MIAMI – A two-day tournament at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center will pit the Alcorn State University women's basketball program against the host institution FIU at 11 a.m. (CT) Thursday, before taking on either South Alabama or New Mexico State on Friday.

The tournament will give the Lady Braves (1-8) an opportunity to face unfamiliar opponents. Alcorn has never faced FIU (2-8) in school history. Alcorn is 4-6 all-time against USA (9-0) and 1-3 vs. NMSU (6-3) but have not played under the
Courtney G. Pruitt era.

Rebounding has been the strength of the Lady Braves this season as they lead the SWAC with 16.1 offensive rebounds per game. Individually, juniors
Charisma Walker and
Diamond Hall both rank top-five in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.3 boards apiece.

Senior
De'Asia Brown leads Alcorn in scoring with 11.1 points per game. She's coming off four consecutive games of at least 12 points. Brown had a two-game stretch where she went 5-7 3FG with a career-high 19 points against Southeastern Louisiana and 16 points vs. Northwestern State.

Isler averages in double-figures with 10.4 points per game and also secures 7.1 rebounds per match. Isler has three double-doubles on the year including 14 points and 12 rebounds against Central Arkansas. She opened the year with a career-high 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds against Lane College.

Also averaging in double-figures is Walker with 10.0 points per contest. She's primarily been used off the bench but has given good production both in scoring and rebounding. She's tied for the team lead in rebounds with Hall. Walker has scored in double-figures in five straight games.

Junior
Jada Hargrove has been a workhorse for the Lady Braves, logging a conference-high 35.4 minutes per game. She's played 40 minutes twice. Hargrove also ranks top-five in the conference in assists (4.1 apg), steals (2.2 spg) and free throw percentage (.759). She scores 9.2 points per game.

FIU has wins this season over Florida A&M 77-54 and Morgan State 59-50. The Panthers are led by TaMiracle Taylor who scores 10.6 points per game.

USA is undefeated with marquee wins over Alabama 72-67 and Southern Miss 77-68. The Jaguars are off to their best start in over 30 years. They limit the opposition to just 58.4 points per game. Antoinette Lewis guides the team with 14.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

NMSU has notable wins over Western Michigan 66-54, UTEP 69-65 and Denver 66-64. Brooke Salas carries the load with 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per outing. Gia Pack is also a big contributor with 13.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
