LORMAN, Miss. – The second of two basketball games Saturday afternoon will pit the Alcorn State University men's program against Champion Christian at 4:30 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

The game will take place after the Lady Braves square off against Fisk University at 2 p.m.

The sharp-shooting Braves (2-6) lead the SWAC in three-pointers made per game with 8.8. Individually, Howard is first in the league with 3.6 threes per outing. The Braves are also second in the league as a team in three-point percentage with a .341 mark.

Alcorn ranks first in the conference in steals with 8.3 per game. Junior Deshaw Andrews is the league-leader with 2.1 per match.

The Braves are looking to improve to 3-0 at home this year after winning their home-opener 79-55 over Blue Mountain and 103-66 over Rust College in their last outing.

Andrews leads the Braves in scoring, rebounding and steals. He averages 13.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. Andrews tallied back-to-back 20-plus outings with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Savannah State, and a career-high 26 points and seven rebounds at Mississippi State.

Howard averages 13.8 points per game. He poured in a career-high 26 points on eight three-pointers against Rust. Howard also netted seven three-pointers vs. Blue Mountain and registered a career-high 24 points. He ranks second in the SWAC in three-point percentage (.395), second in minutes per game (33.2 mpg) and fourth in assists (3.3 apg).

It's the first-ever meeting between Alcorn and Champion Christian. The Tigers are a non-Division I institution that compete in the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA).

SCHEDULE CHANGE
The men's basketball game against Fisk University originally scheduled for Dec. 15 has been moved to this Sunday. The game starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free.
