Lady Braves Kick-Off Saturday Doubleheader against Fisk

LORMAN, Miss. – The first of a two-game Saturday afternoon will feature the Alcorn State University women's basketball program hosting Fisk University at 2 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
 
Following the women's game, the Alcorn men will take on Champion Christian College at 4:30 p.m.
 
Senior De'Asia Brown leads the Lady Braves (0-6) in scoring with 10.3 points per game. She's coming off a 14-point outing at UAB. Brown had a two-game stretch where she went 5-7 3FG with a career-high 19 points against Southeastern Louisiana and 16 points vs. Northwestern State.
 
In addition to Brown, the Lady Braves have three other student-athletes hovering around double-figures in scoring. Junior Charisma Walker registers 9.0 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average ranks third in the SWAC.
 
Junior Jada Hargrove has been a workhorse for the Lady Braves, logging a conferece-leading 35.0 minutes per game. She played all 40 minutes against Central Arkansas which was a career-high. Hargrove scores 9.3 points per game and ranks top-five in the league in assists (3.8) and top-10 in assist:turnover ratio (0.8).
 
Junior Toddriana Isler tallies 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She ranks top-five in the league in both rebounds and minutes played (31.7 mpg). Isler has posted two double-doubles including 14 points and 12 rebounds against Central Arkansas, and a career-high 18 points and 12 rebounds against Lane College.
 
Alcorn has been bit by injuries so far this season. Against Southeastern Louisiana, the Lady Braves only had eight student-athletes in uniform.
 
After the fourth game of the year, the Lady Braves added sophomore forward Jasmine Chambers to the roster. It officially made her a two-sport athlete as she's also a setter on the Alcorn volleyball team. Chambers posted two points and two rebounds in her first career game against Central Arkansas.
 
Fisk (3-8) is led by senior Lashae Brown who scores 17.2 points per game and is an 81.8 percent free throw shooter. Freshman ILeah Chambly records 9.5 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per outing.
 
Fisk is an NAIA DI program that competes in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC).
 
It will be the first-ever meeting between Alcorn and Fisk. The game can be heard live on 91.7 FM or wprl.org with Charles Edmond on the call.
