LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University men's basketball program will play its first of three home games to conclude the regular season Saturday when Southern comes to the Davey L. Whitney Complex for a 5:30 p.m. tip.

The Braves (10-18, 6-9 SWAC) have won three of their last four games. They completed the season-sweep over both Mississippi Valley State and Alabama State, and knocked Arkansas-Pine Bluff out of first-place.

Alcorn also enters Saturday on a four-game home winning-streak. The program is 19-5 at home over the last two seasons and 8-3 this year.

Senior guard
A.J. Mosby is the reigning SWAC Player of the Week winner. The Cartersville, Georgia native averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists over the weekend at games at Alabama A&M and Alabama State.

Mosby has notched five consecutive outings of at least 18 points. He leads the team with 14.9 points per game. Junior
Dante Sterling and sophomore
Maurice Howard also average in double-figures with 11.3 and 10.4 points, respectively. Mosby nets 16.5 points per game in conference.

Southern (14-14, 10-5 SWAC) is playing for the top-seed in the SWAC Championships. The Jags are currently second in the league standings, but first-place Grambling State is ineligible to compete in the postseason including the conference tournament. Southern is tied with Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 10-5 SWAC records.

The Jags have won five in a row and nine of their last 10. They lead the league in both field goal percentage defense and offensive rebounding.

Jared Sam nearly averages a double-double with 16.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a game. Eddie Reese scores 10.0 points per outing and shoots .374 from three-point range.

NOTES
- The Jags won the first meeting this year 61-48 in Baton Rouge, but the Braves have won three of the last four including an 81-59 victory in the semifinals of the 2017 SWAC Championships.

- The Braves lead the league with 7.9 three-pointers made per game. They shoot .345 from long-range as a team on this season and .373 in conference. In league games, Mosby shoots a .433 clip, Howard .406 and Sterling .382.

- In addition to three-point shooting, Alcorn also leads the SWAC in assists with 12.9 per match. Mosby leads the conference in assist:turnover ratio with a 2.1 mark and is third in assists with 3.6 per game.

- Alcorn is undefeated this year when it shoots over 50 percent from the field, and unbeaten when it scores over 80 points.

- In his third season, Alcorn head coach Robinson hoists a 32-19 SWAC record. He's the reigning SWAC Coach of the Year winner.

Yalen Reed was voted the SWAC Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He ranks fourth in the SWAC in blocks (1.1 bpg).

- Tragedy struck Alcorn at Tulane when senior
Reginal Johnson broke his right leg. Johnson was taken off on a stretcher and transported to a nearby medical facility after an air cast was placed on his leg. Johnson is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
