LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University basketball program can get back to .500 with a pair of wins this week when it concludes the regular season at home at the Davey L. Whitney Complex against Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. Thursday and Texas Southern at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Braves (11-18, 7-9 SWAC) will honor their senior trio of
A.J. Mosby,
Avery Patterson and
James Stokes in a ceremony Saturday.

Alcorn has won five consecutive home games and four of its last five matches overall. The team is 20-5 at home over the last two seasons and 9-3 this year.

The Braves are coming off an 89-85 victory over Southern in their only game last weekend. It snapped SU's five-game winning-streak. Senior
A.J. Mosby poured in 24 points, while junior
Dante Sterling had 22. Freshman
Troymain Crosby netted a career-high 17 points off the bench.

Mosby has scored at least 17 points in each of the last seven games. He averages a team-high 15.2 points per game on the year and 16.9 in conference. Mosby won SWAC Player of the Week on Feb. 20.

Also averaging in double-figures are Sterling with 11.6 points per game and sophomore
Maurice Howard with 10.3. Mosby, Sterling and Howard all shoot at least 36 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Mosby leads the SWAC in three-point field goal percentage (.406), free throw percentage (.892) and assist:turnover ratio (2.1). He's third in the league in assists per game (3.7) and fourth in field goal percentage (.505).

PVAMU (13-17, 10-6 SWAC) is coming off an unbeaten home weekend against Alabama State 80-74 and Alabama A&M 71-58. The Panthers are paced by the league's leading scorer Gary Blackston who averages 18.8 points per game. Zachary Hamilton is also a big threat with 16.3 points per outing.

TSU (10-19, 10-6 SWAC) also beat the Alabama schools last weekend 106-71 over AAMU and 95-77 over ASU. Derrick Bruce averaged 36 points between the two games and was named the SWAC Player of the Week winner on Tuesday.

Alcorn will play a road game Tuesday for its first round match in the 2018 SWAC Championships. Possible opponents include Arkansas-Pine Bluff, PVAMU, Southern and TSU.

- Robinson, who is in his third season, hoists a 33-19 SWAC record. He's the reigning SWAC Coach of the Year winner.

- The Braves lead the league with 7.8 three-pointers made per game. They shoot .366 in conference. In league games, Mosby shoots a .444 clip, Howard .382 and Sterling .373.

- In addition to three-point shooting, Alcorn also leads the SWAC in assists with 12.8 per match and free throw percentage with a .715 mark.

- Tragedy struck Alcorn at Tulane when senior
Reginal Johnson broke his right leg. Johnson was taken off on a stretcher and transported to a nearby medical facility after an air cast was placed on his leg. Johnson is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The Braves have also been without another starter, Patterson, due to an ankle injury.
