MONTGOMERY, Ala.

Bukhari Brown (0-2) took the loss after giving up six runs, five of them earned, on 12 hits and walk. The Hornets (5-4) fell to Texas Southern 4-2 in last year's SWAC title game and were picked to win the Eastern Division in this year's preseason poll. ASU took 2-of-3 against Southern last weekend with a fourth game postponed due to weather. Wednesday at Alabama, the team fell 11-1 to the Crimson Tide. The Hornets plated their one run in the fourth after Noel Cheneau reached on a fielder's choice and stole second and third. He then reached home on a wild pitch.

Cheneau is hitting .500 with seven hits, two doubles, a homerun, six runs, and three RBIs to lead ASU's bats. Joseph Estrada follows with a .344 average, Hunter Phillips is at .333, and Ray Hernandez owns a .324. Estrada owns a team-high 12 RBIs and Hernandez leads the team with 12 hits. Alcorn is looking for its first win against the Hornets since the 2014 season. The Braves took the first game of a three-game home series 6-3 on April 12 that year. After ASU took an early 2-0 lead in the first, Alcorn brought in six runs on 12 hits to secure the decision. Ryan Fuentes earned the complete-game victory and allowed three runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
