SEATTLE, Wash. – The Alcorn State University baseball program continues its road swing this weekend with a trip to the Pacific Northwest as the Braves (8-24) play a three-game non-conference series at Seattle University's Bannerwood Park.

The teams open with a 7 p.m. meeting Friday night and will play again Saturday at 4 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for a 2 p.m. opening pitch on Sunday.

Alcorn dropped a pair of midweek games at Nicholls State Tuesday and Wednesday. Game One was a seesaw battle before the Braves scored three runs in the top of the sixth for a 5-4 advantage. The Colonels then pulled even in the bottom half of the inning and used an eight-run seventh to help put the game away.

Nicholas Hayes-Saltare is hitting .324, Justin Barna .298, and Hunter Wilson .279 to lead the Braves at the plate. Wilson has 31 hits and 25 RBIs, while Wallace Rios Jimenez is close behind with 28 hits and 18 RBIs and has drawn 29 walks. Devin Walden has stolen safely in 9-of-12 attempts.

In the field, Kyle Jenkins owns 165 putouts with 17 assists and four errors for a .978 fielding percentage. Wilson follows with 105 putouts, eight assists, and two errors (.983). Rios Jimenez has been involved in 22 of Alcorn's 25 double plays this season, while Brandon Barna has contributed to 12 of them.

In the bullpen, ace Carlos Lopez (2-1) has 52 punchouts and a 4.61 ERA through 41.0 innings and seven starts. Jahborus Smith (2-6) has 42 strikeouts and a 6.21 ERA. The senior has tossed 37.2 innings in seven starts and nine appearances with one save. Bukhari Brown (1-5) is at an 11.30 ERA across 32.2 innings, eight starts, and nine appearances. Joe Smith (1-0) has a 4.40 ERA in 14.1 innings of relief and Razedrick Winters (0-2) owns a 7.32 ERA with three saves in 19.2 innings.

The Redhawks (20-10) took both games of a doubleheader against Air Force on Tuesday. With the victories, the Red and White have eight straight seasons of 20 or more wins. Seattle has won two in a row and seven of their last eight.

Justin Mazzone leads SU with a .400 batting average and Austin Lively is hitting .389 with a team-high 42 hits, to include eight doubles, a triple, and a home run. Dalton Hurd also has 42 hits, including 10 doubles, a triple, and four homers. He also leads the Redhawks with 29 RBIs. Jake Cosgrove brings in a .348 average and has eight extra-base hits.

Jake Prizina (4-0) is the top hurler with a 3.48 ERA and a save in eight starts and nine appearances. The junior lefty has a team-high 58 strikeouts with seven walks in 51.2 innings. Tarik Skubal (4-0) is at a 3.82 ERA and has retired 47 opposing hitters in 37.2 innings of work. Closer Zach Wolf (3-0) owns a 3.04 ERA with seven saves in 17 appearances. He's sat down 32 batters in 23.2 innings.

Seattle was picked to finish fourth in the WAC Preseason Poll and is currently tied for third in the standings with a 6-3 mark in league play.
