LORMAN, Miss. – The freshly revamped tennis courts on the campus of Alcorn State University will be showcased when the men's and women's programs host Mississippi Valley State at 2 p.m. Monday and William Carey at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

"We are beyond excited to be playing at home, especially on back-to-back days. It's been a while since that happened," said Alcorn head coach
Anthony Dodgen. "We have about a week left of the regular season and we'd like to make the most of it."

It will be the second meeting this year between Alcorn and MVSU. The teams met at the second SWAC Round-Up on March 17 in Montgomery, Alabama where both the Braves (4-12, 4-2 SWAC) and Lady Braves (5-13, 4-4 SWAC) won 4-0. It's the first meeting between Alcorn and WCU.

Kert Kilumets will put his undefeated streak on the line Monday as he's never lost a SWAC singles match in his career. For the women, junior
Marlene Maier is a perfect 8-0 in conference singles action this year, primarily at the No. 5 spot.

Alcorn is prepping for the 2018 SWAC Championships which will be held April 13-15 at the Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans. The bracket has already been revealed and the fourth-seeded Braves will take on Alabama A&M at 1 p.m. Friday, while the fifth-seeded Lady Braves will face Southern earlier that morning at 9 a.m.

The Lady Braves also played a match Sunday afternoon at Southeastern Louisiana and fell 5-1. The lone victory came at No. 3 singles where sophomore
Alessandra Maganuco won after her opponent retired in the second set. Doubles was not played.
