LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University baseball program finishes its conference portion of the schedule this weekend as the Braves (11-32, 6-15) host Alabama A&M for a three-game series at Willie E. "Rat" McGowan Stadium, beginning Friday at 6 p.m.

The teams will play a 3 p.m. contest Saturday, while Sunday's 1 p.m. finale will mark Senior Day. The Braves will recognize their 13 seniors half an hour before opening pitch.

Alcorn dropped its SWAC series at Jackson State last weekend, 2-1. The Purple and Gold took Game One 10-3 behind strong pitching by
Carlos Lopez, but the Tigers pulled away late in Game Two and used a five-run eighth inning for a comeback win in the finale.

Justin Barna is hitting .320 and was named SWAC Hitter of the Week Monday after posting a 7-for-13 effort at the plate last week.
Der'Vincent Hamilton follows with a .281 batting average and
A.J. Makarewicz is at a .277. Hamilton and Barna are neck and neck with 41 and 40 hits, respectively.
Hunter Wilson leads the team with 27 RBIs and
Kyle Jenkins has 15 extra-base hits.
Devin Walden has stolen 12 bags in 20 attempts.

Defensively, Jenkins has a .985 fielding percentage with 247 putouts, 22 assists, and four errors. Barna is second on the team with 140 putouts, nine assists, and four errors (.974).

Lopez improved to 4-2 on the season with his win last Friday. The junior owns a 4.50 ERA across 10 starts and leads the league with 73 strikeouts.
Jahborus Smith (2-9) is at a 6.28 ERA and in 11 starts and 13 appearances. He ranks second in the conference with 64 punch outs and has one save.
Bukhari Brown (1-7) has a 9.57 ERA in 11 starts and 12 appearances.

The Bulldogs (10-36, 7-14) swept Mississippi Valley State at home last weekend before falling at Murray State Tuesday. AAMU hosted Alcorn at the end of the March. The programs split a doubleheader on Friday, March 30 and the Braves withstood a late comeback attempt that Saturday to prevail 5-4 for the series win.

AAMU has five players batting over .300, led by JT O'Reel at .352. Carson McGregory follows at .338, Jonathan Smith II is hitting .321, Dalton Mitchell .315, and Tyus O'Neal El .304. Mitchell has a team-high 51 hits, while McGregory and O'Reel have brought in a combined 48 runs. Carlton Peppers is the threat on the basepaths with 10 steals on 11 attempts. In the field, McGregory has 236 putouts with 13 assists and three errors (.988).

Jaret Britt (3-7) owns a 4.78 ERA and has made 10 starts in 15 appearances with three complete games. Clayton Warner (1-5) has made seven starts with a 9.44 ERA and Blaine Milam (0-11) has a 12.22 ERA through 10 starts.
