LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program will welcome the Lady Hornets and Lady Bulldogs to Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium this weekend in a pair of SWAC East contests.
The purple and gold rank second in the NCAA with 12.10 saves per game while placing seventh nationally with a shot accuracy percentage of .571 on 21 attempts.

Giselle Rojas is the newly crowned all-time program saves leader with 175 and freshman
Kali Helms is currently sixth on the list for most saves in a single season with 84 during her nine matches played.
Helms' 84 saves places her fifth in the country for total saves and second in the SWAC behind only Mississippi Valley State's McKenzie McCarthy (121).

Scouting the Alabama State Lady Hornets (Friday, October 11 at 4 p.m.)
Alabama State enters the match 3-10 with a 2-2 conference record, their wins have come over Faulkner, Jackson State and Southern while riding a two-game win streak.
The Lady Hornets rank top-three in the SWAC for shots on goal per game (5.54), goals (18) and points (46).
Star freshman Isabella Beortegui has been electric during her opening season in Montgomery, placing in the top-third of the league for goals per game (0.46), shots on goal per game (1.38) and total goals (6) while topping the conference with a .563 shot accuracy percentage.
Janae Brown (3) and Preseason All-SWAC Second Teamer Ashley Thomas (2) join Beortegui in scoring multiple goals this season while McKenna Wiscombe tops the black and gold with three assists.
Alabama State leads the all-time series with Alcorn 10-5, while defeating the Lady Braves six straight times.

Scouting the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs (Sunday, October 13 at 1 p.m.)
AAMU is 5-6-1 on the campaign with a 3-1 record in the SWAC as the maroon girls from Huntsville defeated North Alabama (2-1) and Alabama-Huntsville (2-1) in nonconference play.
Makayla Rushing has been the Lady Bulldogs' top scorer, placing top-three in the conference for total goals (5) and goals per game (0.50).
D'Essence Burnett has put exactly half of her shot attempts on goal in 2019 (9-18) to place third among SWAC peers in that category while goalkeeper Jodi Medina is top-35 in the NCAA with 62 total saves.
The Lady Braves have only defeated the Lady Bulldogs one time in 18 attempts which includes two ties. Alcorn's lone win in the series came at home in 2017 by a score of 3-1.
