Hooker to be Inducted into SWAC Hall of Fame

LORMAN, Miss. – As one of the all-time greats from the Alcorn State University women's basketball program, Teresa Hooker will be enshrined as part of 2019 SWAC Hall of Fame Class that will be inducted in on Friday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Hooker was a four-year letterwinner from 1983-87. In her career, she recorded 1,291 points and 709 rebounds.
 
Hooker was the 1985-86 SWAC Player of the Year. She led the Lady Braves to both the SWAC regular season and SWAC Conference Tournament titles that season. Hooker helped Alcorn win four championships in four years as the team also won the regular season titles in 1983-84 and 1984-85.
 
As a senior in 1986-87, Hooker averaged 19.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
 
Upon completing her collegiate career, Hooker was drafted to play professional women's basketball in South America playing for team Club de Regatas Lima.
 
Hooker was inducted into the Alcorn A-Club Hall of Fame in 2012.
 
The rest of the 2019 SWAC Hall of Fame Class includes Alabama State's Freda Freeman-Jackson, Grambling State's Autrey Lane Howell and Patricia Cage-Bibbs, Jackson State's Richard Caster (Legend), Mississippi Valley State's George Ivory, Prairie View A&M's Dr. John Grandville (Legends), and Texas Southern's John "Doc" Harvey.
