Lady Braves Drop Sunday Matinee At Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program was unable to contain the Southern offense as the Jaguars beat the Lady Braves 5-0.

Sophomore Paula Solé Cabeza as well as seniors Christina Grybos and Maya McInnis had two shots on goal with senior Anjelica Dugan, junior Anouchka Berthelot and freshman Saskia Draaijer each placing one shot on goal.

Freshman Kali Helms was the goalkeeper for the first 54:49 with two saves and senior Giselle Rojas played the final 35:11 in the net as she allowed only one goal to go along with a save.

The Lady Braves had two corner kicks and more shots on goal than the Jaguars as the purple and gold had nine on-target shot attempts to Southern's eight.

Alcorn will make up its postponed game from October 25 against Jackson State Wednesday afternoon where it will play the Tigers at 3 p.m. on the JSU Soccer Field.
