LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program has a new career saves leader as senior Giselle Rojas passed Qunitiya Miller with 175 saves and climbing in defeats to UAPB and Grambling.
Rojas played the final 41 minutes in goal against Pine Bluff without logging a save but came on in relief versus Grambling State to record eight saves in just under 40 minutes of action.
Freshman Kali Helms had 11 saves over the weekend in 99Â minutes and 14 seconds between the pipes.
Helms now has 84 saves on the year which currently places her with the sixth-most for a single season while only two back of fifth place.
Junior Mireya Gonzalez and senior Anjelica Dugan both put two shots on goal over the two matches with both of Dugan's coming against the Lady Lions.
Sophomore Sarah-Joy Romain also got her first career shot on goal in the contest with UAPB and senior Christina Grybos registered a shot versus the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Braves continue its four-game homestand with the Alabama schools coming to Lorman next weekend to coincide with the Homecoming week festivities.
