LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University volleyball program welcomes Alabama State and Alabama A&M to the Davey L. Whitney Complex this Sunday and Monday, respectively.
The Lady Braves (5-20, 2-12 SWAC) have been piling up the service aces this season, ranking third in the conference with 1.41 aces per set while smacking 121 overall.

Junior setter
Jasmine Chambers appears among the SWAC leaders in two categories, placing fourth in assists per set (5.88) and sixth in aces per set (0.29) while leading the team in both categories.

Fiapaipai Iosia is among the top defensive players in the league, piling up 3.42 digs per set to fall inside the top-ten. The libero/defensive specialist is presently tied with Kim Hampton (1994-97) for fourth on the program's career service aces list with 132.

Sydney Joseph remains the team's best attacker with 184 kills (2.22 per set) and 206.5 points (2.49 per set), sophomore
Simone Barren still tops the purple and gold at 53 blocks (0.62 per set) and redshirt senior
Singryd Valadares has the best hitting percentage (.181) among qualified Lady Braves.

Scouting the Alabama State Hornets (Sunday, October 3 at 6 p.m.)
The Hornets come into the weekend at 11-19, 8-6 SWAC and have peeled off wins in five of its last six conference games.
ASU is a top-three team in the conference in most major categories along with a top-25 national ranking in total digs (1487), total aces (151), total attacks (3560) and total kills (1288).
Bayle' Bennett has been a well-rounded threat all season long for the black and gold, earning top-35 NCAA rankings in total points (381) and total attacks (978) as well as being top-five in the SWAC for total aces (29) and total digs (292).
Emersen Belles tops Bennett in the latter two categories, leading the conference with 35 service aces and third in digs at 375).
E'laisah Young has been one of the most efficient attackers in the league, placing second for hitting percentage with a robust .347 in 447 attempts.
Alabama State took the previous meeting in Montgomery in straight sets earlier this year and now lead the all-time series 40-20 over Alcorn.

Scouting the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (Monday, October 4 at 6 p.m.)
AAMU has been on fire this year as they are 11-3 in conference and are the only SWAC school with a winning overall record (15-13).
The maroon and gray are tops in the league regarding digs per set (14.43) and hitting percentage (.228) while placing top-three in assists per set (10.40), blocks per set (1.78), kills per set (11.95) and opponents hitting percentage (.194).
The Evans sisters, Megan and Maya, have been a dynamic duo for the Bulldogs as they lead the SWAC in total assists (752) and hitting percentage (.387), respectively.
Their best defender is Maci Battle, who is fourth in the league at 336 digs on the campaign.
Alabama A&M swept the prior matchup with Alcorn this season and currently hold a 50-5 record all-time versus the Lady Braves.
