LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University women's basketball program outscored Grambling State in the fourth quarter, but fell too far behind early in a 79-63 defeat Monday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

GSU (10-13, 7-4 SWAC) led by 16 points and halftime and extended it to 30 in the fourth quarter.

Alcorn (3-20, 2-9 SWAC) fought until the end and finished the game on a 19-5 run. The Lady Braves outscored the Lady Tigers 22-15 in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Braves outrebounded the Lady Tigers 43-32. Alcorn also held an edge of 32-22 in bench scoring.

Junior
Jada Hargrove registered a team-high 15 points and a career-high eight assists. Senior
De'Asia Brown tallied 12 points and five rebounds, and freshman
Diamond Hall notched 11 points and six rebounds.

Shakyla Hill stood out for GSU with 22 points, 11 steals, eight assists and five rebounds. Jazmin Boyd also reached double-figures with 17 points.

The Lady Tigers built their lead by shooting .733 (11-15) in the first quarter and .538 (7-13) in the second. GSU ended .517 (31-60) from the field in the game. GSU also forced 29 turnovers.

Alcorn was down 74-44 with 6:12 left in the game when it started to get it going. The Lady Braves went on a 13-1 run which included a three-pointer by Hall and a jumper by Hargrove to make it a 75-59 game. Though, there just wasn't enough time left on the clock for Alcorn to erase a 30-point fourth quarter deficit.

The Lady Braves will hit the road Saturday when they travel to Mississippi Valley State for a 3 p.m. contest. Alcorn won the first meeting this year 73-63 in Lorman.

NOTES
- Alcorn entered the game leading the SWAC in offensive rebounding with 15.9 per game, and secured 21 in the game.

- Hargrove submitted her 17th career double-figure scoring game and 12th this year. She topped her previous career-high of seven assists set at UTEP on Nov. 10, 2018. Hargrove logged 39 minutes and is the only Lady Brave to start in all 23 games this year.

- Brown has scored in double-figures in 10 of 11 conference games this year. She came off the bench for the first time this year and turned in her 20th career double-figure scoring game and 16th this year.

- Hall was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She etched her seventh double-figure scoring game of the year.
