ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Alcorn State University women's basketball program can surpass Mississippi Valley State in the SWAC standings with a win Saturday at 3 p.m. at the R.W. Harrison Complex, followed by a late 8 p.m. game Monday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Alcorn (3-20, 2-9 SWAC) is currently one game behind MVSU (4-18, 3-8 SWAC) for eighth-place in the conference standings. With a victory, the Lady Braves will pull ahead of the Delta Devilettes because of the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Alcorn won the first meeting this year 73-63 at home. The top eight teams qualify for the SWAC Championships.
Alcorn has won eight of the last nine meetings against MVSU. The Lady Braves are 7-1 against the Delta Devilettes under head coach

In the first meeting this year, sophomore
Jamaysha Bernard turned in a career night of 15 points and 17 rebounds to lead Alcorn to a 73-63 win at home. Bernard followed it up with eight points and 10 rebounds two nights later against UAPB (9-12, 6-3 SWAC).
The Lady Braves are 4-3 against the Golden Lions under Pruitt. Alcorn will look to avenge a narrow 59-57 defeat to UAPB in the first meeting this year as the Lions scored the game-winning lay-up with five seconds left.
Senior
De'Asia Brown is the team's leading scorer with 11.6 points per game and 13.7 in conference. She's reached double-figures in 10 of 11 league matches.
Junior
Jada Hargrove also averages in double-figures with 10.2 points per game. She's the only Lady Brave to start in all 23 games. Hargrove ranks second in the SWAC in minutes (33.2 mpg), third in assists (4.0 apg) and fourth in steals (2.3 spg).
Alcorn leads the SWAC in offensive rebounds with 16.3 per game, and ranks second in three-point percentage at a .318 mark. Individually, junior
Toddriana Isler is third in the league in offensive boards with 2.8 per outing, while freshman
Diamond Hall is fourth with 2.6 per game.
Isler ranks fourth in the league in rebounds with a team-high 6.9 per game. She also scores 8.7 points per outing. Isler missed five conference games due to injury, but has scored in double-digits in three of the last four games.
The Delta Devilettes have dropped four of their last five, but pulled off a 54-52 road victory at Grambling State. MVSU also has league wins over Alabama State 64-62 and at UAPB 62-56. LaKendra Bassett averages team-highs of 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
The Golden Lions are on a six-game skid. They've been a defensive team this year as Shawntayla Harris leads the SWAC in conference with 41 (2.3 bpg). Harris is also UAPB's leading scorer and rebounder with 8.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per outing.
