TOPEKA, Kan. – Tori Spann signed a semi-pro contract to play in the Women's Minor League Basketball Association (WMLBA) with the Topeka Shock.
"I didn't think I would continue hooping after college, at least not competitive wise, but here I am still turning a dream since I was little into reality. I am thankful for this opportunity," said Spann.
Spann was a two-year letterwinner with the Alcorn State University women's basketball program from 2015-17. She totaled 285 points, 197 rebounds, 73 assists and 37 steals.
The Wichita, Kansas native graduated from Alcorn in Spring 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in business administration.
"I don't know a player that would be more deserving of this opportunity. Tori is a hard working young lady with the athleticism to compete at the next level. I couldn't be more proud of her," said Alcorn head coach
Courtney G. Pruitt.
The WMLBA is a minor professional basketball league that affords professional players, coaches and executives opportunities not often available at the minor league level. The WMLBA strives to give women a platform to create their own legacies by presenting them with opportunities to showcase their talents as professional athletes.
