LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University volleyball program unveiled its 2021 spring schedule, which features 13 league contests set to begin in January, head coach
Melissa Robinson announced Friday.
"I'm excited to announce our spring schedule for the upcoming season," said Robinson. "It's a new time of year for us to play but I believe the schedule allows us to look forward to getting closer to a new normal."
The schedule only includes conference dates, and non-conference matches may be added at a later date.
Alcorn begins the 2021 season on its home court, kicking off the conference slate hosting Alabama State (Jan. 24) and Alabama A&M (Jan. 25) inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The Lady Braves complete the four-game home stand the following weekend with matches against Prairie View A&M (Jan. 31) and Texas Southern (Feb. 1).  Â
The Lady Braves hit the road for the first time in spring for a showdown at Mississippi Valley State (Feb. 7) before making the short trek to Jackson State (Feb. 8) the following day.
A weekend home tilt versus Southern (Feb. 21) breaks up the busy road stretch, but the Lady Braves promptly return to the road for another pair of road tests at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Feb. 28) and Grambling (March 1).
Alcorn caps its home slate hosting in-state rivals Jackson State (March 14) and Mississippi Valley State (March 15) before closing out the season in the state of Alabama, taking on Alabama A&M (March 21) and Alabama State (March 22). Â
The 2021 SWAC Volleyball Tournament will be played March 26-28.
