Alcorn Travels to Southeastern Louisiana for Season Opener

LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State University women's basketball program faces Southeastern Louisiana Wednesday (Nov. 25) afternoon with a 1 p.m. contest at the University Center in Hammond, La.

SERIES HISTORY 
The Lady Lions hold a slim 4-3 series advantage over Alcorn, however the Lady Braves triumphed in the last meeting taking an 84-77 overtime thriller on Nov. 10, 2017. 

OPENING STORYLINES
• Alcorn State University women's basketball program opens its 43rd season of competition Wednesday (Nov. 25) afternoon against Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La. 

• The Lady Braves are coming off their best season since 2011-12, posting an 11-game turnaround and finishing 13-18 in 2019-20. 

• Nathaniel Kilbert makes his head coaching debut for the Lady Braves, marking his third stint at Alcorn and first at the helm. His past coaching stops include fellow SWAC members Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State, compiling a 179-346 career mark. 

• Alcorn has a 14-28 record on opening day; last win was an 84-77 overtime thriller at Southeastern Louisiana (11/10/2017).

• As a team, Alcorn ranked fourth among SWAC members in offense after totaling 1968 points and averaging 63.5 per game. 

• The Lady Braves return a pair of top scoring contributors in LaRae Rascoe and Kirdis Clark; each earned a SWAC Player of the Week citation last season. 

• Junior Diamond Hall led the squad in rebounds last year (162); her 5.2 average ranked ninth overall in the league.

• Alcorn placed ninth in the 2020-21 SWAC Preseason Poll with 46 points.
