LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State University men's basketball program begins its non-conference road swing at UAB Wednesday (Nov. 25) afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. season-opening contest in Birmingham, Ala.

SERIES HISTORY
UAB holds an unblemished 6-0 mark against the Braves, with their last meeting in 2018 resulting in a 67-57 Blazer victory.

OPENING STORYLINES

• The Alcorn State University men's basketball program opens 2020-21 competition Wednesday (Nov. 25) afternoon against UAB in Birmingham, Ala. 

• Alcorn is 21-31 in season openers since 1968-69; last win was a 85-41 thumping against Oakland in 2012. 

• As a team, Alcorn shattered multiple school records last season, setting marks for the highest free throw percentage (.744/415-558) and three-pointers made (268).

• The Braves return to the court with a revamped roster including 10 newcomers, eight transfers and two freshman.

• Landon Bussie makes his head coaching debut for the Braves after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach at league rival Prairie View A&M.

• Senior Troymain Crosby earned a spot on the All-SWAC Second Team after averaging 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 2019-20. Entering his senior campaign, Crosby has totaled 936 career points over three seasons.

• During the 2019-20 season, Alcorn ranked first offensively in the conference, averaging 75.0 points per game. 

• Senior Kobe Wilson returns as a defensive weapon, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game for sixth-best in the SWAC. 

• The Braves look to snap a six-game series slide dating back to 1989; UAB won the last meeting, 67-57, in 2018. 

• Alcorn finished fifth in the 2020-21 SWAC Preseason Poll scoring with 75 points while Crosby was tabbed to the preseason all-conference first team.

The Braves continue their non-league road stretch Saturday (Nov. 28) against Kent State at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, Ohio.
