BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alcorn State University men's basketball program got a big outing from
Tyree Corbett in the SWAC Quarterfinals but Texas Southern prevailed 78-55.

Byron Joshua was the top performer in the assist department, handing out five of those while pouring in 17 points.
Â
The duo of Corbett and Joshua made up 40 of the Braves' 55 points (72.7%) and 11 of the 36 boards (30.6%).
Texas Southern (14-8, 10-3 SWAC) made nearly half of its shots from the field (30-of-61, 49.2%) and outrebounded the Purple and Gold by ten (46-36).
Â
Karl Nicholas went for a double-double of 24 points and 13 boards, swatted away a game-best four blocks, tallied a steal and went 11-for-15 (73.3%) on field goal attempts.
Â
TSU's First Team All-Conference selection, Michael Weathers, was able to suit up and had a stat line of 13 points, eight rebounds, a game-high five assists and two blocks.
Â
John Walker III (14) and Justin Hopkins (10) both crossed the double-digit scoring threshold as well, combining for 17 boards and five assists together.
