LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University volleyball program hosts the Southern Lady Jaguars Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., making up its previously postponed contest from February 21.
The Lady Braves (1-4, 1-4 SWAC) has been one of the top shelf serving teams in the NCAA, ranking inside the NCAA's top-40 for service aces per set at 1.81.

Individually, Mikenzie Young-Mullins (0.44) and Simone Barren (0.40) are the two best servers for the Purple and Gold, slotting in at fourth and seventh, respectively, in the SWAC for aces per set.

Young-Mullins is the top attacker on the squad so far after transferring over from USC Upstate, averaging 2.81 kills per set with a total of 45 overall.

Jasmine Chambers has established herself as one of the conference's best setters, averaging 3.69 assists per set while also contributing in the digs department with 2.75 per set, second-best on the club.

Mariah Wilmoth has taken a big step forward on the defensive end, topping the Lady Braves with 56 digs for an average of 3.50 per set.

Simone Barren has more than tripled the next closest Lady Brave in the blocks department, taking down 13 attacks and 65-percent of the team's 20 on the year.
Scouting the Southern Lady Jaguars (3-4, 3-4 SWAC)
SU has alternated wins and losses all season long without fail, losing its last contest to Grambling State in a straight-set sweep.

Southern is among the country's top-25 in hitting percentage allowed as opponents have hit just 0.126 against the Lady Jags.

The visitors from Baton Rouge have a pair of athletes placed second in the conference including Xaria Taylor with 1.16 blocks per set and Kennedy Joubert contributing 4.44 digs per set.
