Stojanovski Honored, Wins Doubles Point On Senior Day

LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University men's tennis program recognized senior Stojan Stojanovski prior to its Senior Day tilt with William Carey, a match it dropped 5-2.

The Braves (3-11, 2-3 SWAC) were blessed to have Stojanovski the past few seasons as he was named to the All-SWAC First Team in both 2018 and 2019.

He concluded his final home match by helping Lucas Dini take down Tom Tillger and Eric Caleguer in the second slot to clinch the doubles point before falling to Leo Bresson in the #2 singles position (6-2, 6-2).

Santiago Rocca and Kareem Bowe made quick work of Juan Pulida Pinilla / Leo Bresson in the third doubles position, winning both sets by 6-1 totals.

Rocca was the lone Brave to come away victorious in singles play, prevailing in a thrilling three-set affair with 37 points combined versus Caleguer (2-6, 7-5, 10-7).

#1 David Pata was able to take Daniil Klimov the distance before narrowly losing (4-6, 6-3, 6-7) while the other three-setter during singles competition came from the fourth position where Dini dropped an evenly matched contest with Tillger (7-6, 5-7, 4-6).

The Braves earned a #3 seed in this weekend's SWAC Tournament at the Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans and its quarterfinals matchup will be opposite #5 Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
