GRAMBLING, La. –
Mikenzie Young-Mullins provided Alcorn with seven kills Sunday afternoon as the Braves dropped a 3-0 decision in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) volleyball play away to Grambling State at Fredrick Hobdy Arena. Grambling won the match on scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.

Mikenzie Young-Mullins moved from the libero spot to her original outside hitter position last weekend, with the move now paying dividends for the
Melissa Robinson coached Braves.

Young-Mullins recorded a team-high seven kills for the Braves on Sunday, while teammates
Demya Tate and Jéda Curry supplied Alcorn with five kills each on the day, respectively.

Grambling (10-8, 7-1 SWAC) hit .232 as a team in the match, including a .312 mark in the third set alone.

Alcorn (2-20, 1-8 SWAC) had its best hitting percentage as a team in the final set as well, with the Purple and Gold hitting at a .269 clip for the frame. The Braves had nine kills on just 26 swings in the third set.

Grambling was led by Jayden James with a match-high 10 kills, as she also accumulated six digs and a block assist in the match. Setters Hillary English and Ana Calderon each had 15 assists for the Tigers, while the defense was sparked by the play of Nyah Ellis with a match-high 13 digs.

Alcorn's
Ramona Pulu had 10 assists from her setter position. And it was
Alissa Williams and
Makayla Wardlaw each tallying seven digs for the Braves.

Additionally, freshman middle blocker Tate led all players in the match with a season-high seven blocks (five solo).

The Braves now quickly turn their attention to Arkansas-Pine Bluff as Alcorn travels to the Golden Lions for a SWAC match on Monday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
