STATESBORO, Ga. – Alcorn State Volleyball concluded its stint at the Bash In The Boro event hosted by Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon, as the Braves dropped a 3-0 decision to Stetson at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Georgia. The Hatters collected the win courtesy scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-12 in straight-set fashion.

Alcorn State (0-3) tallied 10 kills as a unit in the second set.

The Braves fell behind early-on, before 2022 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team selection
Mikenzie Young-Mullins put down one of her seven kills in the game to bring her team to within 7-6 in the comeback attempt. However, the Braves eventually dropped the set, 25-17.

Stetson (3-0) proved too much in the third set as the Hatters hit .300 as a unit en route to the 25-12 decision and match victory.

The Purple and Gold were paced by the play of Young-Mullins as she added five digs and a block to her kills total.
Makayla Wardlaw contributed with five kills and five digs. Meanwhile, freshman setter
Ramona Pulu setup 11 assists and posted six digs.

The Stetson Hatters were led in the match by Vitale with eight kills, followed closely by Yamelis Mojica with seven kills and a match-high six blocks. Setter Nyah Molina provided 23 assists, while also going low for 10 digs to complete her double-double outing.

Alcorn returns to the court next weekend when the Braves travel to Boca Raton, Florida to participate in the Paradise Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic. The event kicks off Friday, Sept. 2, when the Braves face-off against Stetson at 9 a.m. CT.
