Braves Take on Arkansas State on the Road

LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University men's basketball (1-1) travels to face the Arkansas State University Red Wolves on Tuesday night at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Ark. The Braves are riding high off an exhilarating 70-62 win over Xavier University of Louisiana in a midweek contest on Nov. 8.
 
            After two games, Alcorn is being led by Bryon Joshua in scoring, averaging 17 points a game. He is followed by Jeremiah Gambrell averaging 10.5 points. Michael Pajeaud and Stephen Byard have been hitting the boards for the Braves as they are averaging five rebounds per game.
            In the rout of the Gold Rush, Joshua showed up and showed out with 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. All-Southwestern Athletic Conference Preseason First Team selection Jeremiah Kendall saw action and tallied 21 points and tied with Byard for a team-high nine rebounds. 
 
            For the Braves to come up with a win, they will have to contain Taryn Todd and Freddy Hicks who lead the Red Wolves in scoring. Todd and Hicks are averaging 18 points and 16.5 points per game, respectively. They are followed by Dyondre Dominguez averaging 12.5 points and leads the team in rebounds with nine per game. 
 
            In Arkansas State's last outing, the team suffered a lost 75-81 to Bowling Green State University on the road. Todd led the team with 31 points and seven assists. Dominguez was the rebound leader with 10 and recorded two blocks.
 
            Tip-off for the tilt is set for 7 p.m. and fan can catch the action on ESPN+.
