Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Braves Communications

Alcorn Hangs Tough, Falls to Red Wolves, 86-100

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Alcorn State University men's basketball team visited Arkansas State University on Tuesday night. The Braves were well matched with the Red Wolves but Arkansas State came out on top, 86-100.

    Alcorn's Jeremiah Kendall exploded in the game with his first double-double of the season as he recorded 28 points and a team high 14 rebounds. Kendall also snagged two assists and two steals. He was followed by Jalen Hawkins with 13 points, a team high three assists, and two steals. Michael Pajeaud rounded out the top scorers on the night with 12 points, going 10-of-10 from the stripe, five rebounds and a block. Rodrique Massenat showed his nose for the ball as he came up with a team high three steal.

    Collectively, the Braves finished night going 28-of-56 from the field and 27-of-34 from the line.

    A-State had five players in the double digits for scoring. The team was led by Dyondre Dominguez with 18 points and nine rebounds. He was followed by Taryn Todd with 17 points and three assists. Zane Butler and Freddy Hicks each accounted for 14 points. Avery Felts contributed 12 points and three assists. Hicks also tallied six rebounds while Butler recorded two blocks on the night. The assist leader for Arkansas State was Caleb Fields with eight. Lado Laku recorded three blocks for the team.

    As a unit, the Red Wolves went 34-of-65 from the field and 19-of-43 from the line.

    Both teams were competitive in the paint, however, Alcorn won the battle by outscoring Arkansas State 32 to 26. The benches for both teams kept them alive in the game as each scored 38 points. Both ball clubs were able to score 52 points in the second half of play.

    The Braves will stay on the road and head to the University of Alabama-Birmingham for a game on Thursday, Nov. 16. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
