Landon Bussie and Alcorn State University Braves basketball heads to Birmingham, Ala. for Thursday night action against the Blazers of the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
    Alcorn comes into the contest after a close loss to Arkansas State University on Tuesday, 100-86, on the road. The team is currently being led by All-Southwestern Athletic Conference First Team selection
Jeremiah Kendall with his prolific play. Against Arkansas State, Kendall racked his first double-double of the season with 28 points and a team high 14 rebounds. He also recorded two assists and two steals. For the Braves to secure the victory, Kendall and teammates such as
Jalen Hawkins and
Michael Pajeaud must show up and be sparks for the offense. Hawkins contributed 13 points, a team-high three assists, and two steals in the game against the Red Wolves. Pajeaud recorded 12 points, went 10-of-10 from the stripe with five rebounds and a block.

    UAB is riding the wave of a 66-63 win over Big 10 Conference opponent, the University of Maryland, on Sunday afternoon. The leader for the Blazers is Eric Gaines with 18 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 3.7 steals per game. Against the Terrapins, Gaines scored 20 points and tallied four steals and three assists. Alcorn will have to shut Gaines down and contain other scorers such as Javian Davis and Alejandro Vasquez. Davis is averaging 10.7 points per game while Vasquez dropped 14 points against Maryland.
    Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and Braves fans can watch the action on ESPN+.
