Nate Kilbert and the Alcorn State University women's basketball team faced off with Big12 Conference opponent, Baylor University on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Braves played well but were defeated by the Bears, 47-93.
Alcorn was led by
Nakia Cheatham and Zy'Nyia White with their double-digit point totals. Cheatham scored 13 points and tallied two rebounds and a steal. White snapped up 10 points and recorded two rebounds and two steals.
Nia McCalphia hit the boards for ASU and came back with a team-high four rebounds.
The Lady Braves went 41.3 percent from the field, 75 percent from the stripe, and tallied 19 rebounds.
Baylor had four player in the double-digit point totals. Yaya Felder led the Bears with 16 points and recorded three steals, one rebound, and a block. Sarah Andrews scored 15 points and tallied three steals and three assists. They were followed by Aijha Blackwell and Jana Van Gytenbeek with 11 points and five assists each.
Collectively, Baylor went 55.2 percent from the field, 81.8 percent from the line, and recorded 35 rebounds.
Alcorn will take the court again Thursday, Nov. 30 at home in the Davey L. Whitney Complex against Nicholls State University. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
