Box Score MADISON, Miss. – The Alcorn State men's tennis team grabs its first victory of the 2023 season, defeating conference-foe Prairie View A&M, 4-1, at the FitNetwork in Madison, Miss on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The Braves took an early by winning the doubles point. Braves pair Luka Andonov and Arne Sohmer won the first doubles contest, defeating Jorge Gonzalez and Juan Malham, 6-3, on court two, before Nikola Kijac and Luka Rodic defeated Jaydn Boone and Caleb Eaton ,6-2, on court two for the clean sweep.
In the singles contest, Alcorn won the first two points as Kijac defeated Diego Hatem, 6-1, 6-0, on court three and Andov took down Eaton, 6-0, 6-0, on court four.
Prairie View claimed its only point of the contest when Jorge Juarez took down Dakota Fernandez, 6-0, 6-0, on court one.
To seal the victory, Sohmer defeated Jorge Gonzalez, 6-1, 6-3, on court five.
