Baseball Drops Final Contest of Roosevelt Four-Game Series

LORMAN, Miss. – Three Braves connected for two hits in the final contest of the Roosevelt University four-game series. Despite the consistent effort, Alcorn could not top the Lakers, falling 8-5 on Sunday and 1-3 in the series.

The Braves did not skimp on the hits, delivering 11 against Roosevelt in game four. Third baseman Tyler Daniels had a 2-for-4 appearance, and Garrett Palladino and Michael DeAnglis had five at-bats for two hits.

Kalum Banks, Jr. and Chris Tillman swung for extra bases. Banks, Jr. delivered Alcorn's only double during the contest, and Tillman had the Braves only triple.

On the mound, Austin Delgado had his second loss of the season. He threw 5.0 innings for ten hits against, seven runs (four earned), three walks, and three strikeouts. Kevin Jackson entered in the sixth inning, pitching for two innings with two hits, one earned run, two walks, and three strikeouts. Closing, Austin Guzman took over in the eighth for one hit against, one walk, and one strikeout.

Hunter Darst led the Lakers at the plate. He tallied three at-bats with two hits, one run, and three RBIs. Omar Abuelhija was credited with the pitching victory. He threw for seven innings and had five hits, one earned run, three walks, and four strikeouts.

Alcorn will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 28, traveling to Beaumont, Texas, to take on Lamar University. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
