LORMAN, Miss. – The Braves men's tennis team moves to 0-5 on the season after dropping back-to-back matches over the weekend. Despite the losses, Alcorn saw significant improvements on the court as it enters the final week before conference competitions.
Troy (L, 7-0)
On Friday, the Braves traveled to Troy, Ala., to take on the Trojans of Troy University. Alcorn had a good fight but fell 7-0 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Troy took an early lead, clinching the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Duo Luka Rodic and Luka Andonov forced Trojan Mario Martinez and Jules Fabre into a close set but eventually yielded 7-6 for Troy's clean sweep of the doubles contest.
In the singles games, Nikola Kijac fought hard against Troy's Noah Martens, forcing the match-up to a third set after taking set one 6-3. Eventually, Kijac could not close the game, falling 7-6(4) and 10-4 in the final sets. Troy took the other five singles matches for the 7-0 victory.

UAB (L, 5-2)
After competing at Troy, the Braves went north to Birmingham to take on the University of Alabama – Birmingham Blazers on Saturday.
UAB took the doubles point with a 6-0 victory on court one and a 7-6 success on court two.
The Braves forced the Blazers into several extra set contests in the singles. UAB took court six with a win by walkover and quickly grabbed points on courts one and four.
On court five, the Blazers picked up their fifth point of the contest, but only after Arne Sohmer of Alcorn forced a third set by taking set two 64. Giving the Braves their first point of the day, Luka Rodic defeated Parker Bradbary on court two (1-6, 6-4, and 10-8). Nicola Kijac recorded Alcorn's second point taking court three (6-4, 7-6, and 10-3).
