LORMAN, Miss. – Prairie View A&M completes a full sweep of the Braves Baseball team, taking both games of the Sunday doubleheader 16-3 and 6-5. Alcorn falls to 1-14 on the season and 0-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Panthers improve to 5-16 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Game One
The Braves took a 5-2 lead in the second inning, scoring five runs in the bottom of the frame. Unfortunately, Alcorn would not see any more runs in the contest as Prairie View picked up two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth and sixth.
Jamaal Green went 2-for-2 at the plate with one RBI, and Khalil Smith collected two RBIs on a 1-for-3 appearance with one run.
Kewan Braziel took the loss on the mound. The Charlotte, N.C. native pitched for 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts, nine hits against, six runs (five earned), and four walks.
Game Two
Alcorn scored one run in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the seventh, but it was not enough for the second-game victory. Chris Tillman and Kalum Banks, Jr. went 2-for-3, including a double, for one run to lead the Braves at the plate.
Michael Lorenz took the loss on the mound. He threw for 2.0 innings with two strikeouts, eight hits, six runs (five earned), and one walk.
Braves return to action on Tuesday, March 21, when they travel to Itta Bena, Miss., for a single midweek contest against Mississippi Valley State. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.
