Baseball Swept By Texas Southern in Three Game Series

LORMAN, Miss. – The Texas Southern baseball team makes a clean sweep of the Braves as the Tigers take all three contests of the weekend series. Alcorn falls to 6-32 overall and 3-18 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as TSU improves to 27-16 and 13-6 in conference play.

GAME ONE (L, 9-2)
The Braves scored the contest's first run to get a 1-0 lead over the Texas Southern. Garrett Palladino took Alcorn's second at-bat to single to right center. A throwing error by TSU's pitcher advanced him to third, and a single by Kalum Banks, Jr. brought him home.

Texas Southern answered by scoring multiple runs in every frame leading up to the sixth to take a 9-1 advantage.

Alcorn scored its final run in the ninth. Tyler Daniels singled up the middle, went to second on a single by Ben Martin, and then scored on a single from Banks, Jr., for the 9-2 loss.

Banks, Jr. led Alcorn at the plate with a 2-for-5 outing for two RBIs. Jermel Ford took the loss on the mound, starting the game by throwing 4.0 innings. He delivered four strikeouts and had four hits against, seven runs (five earned), and seven walks.

GAME TWO (L, 17-7)
Texas Southern opened with a scoring run to lead Alcorn 10-0 at the close of the fifth inning.

Alcorn readjusted and scored to cut the Tigers lead to 10-6 at the bottom of the seventh frame.

A huge eighth inning put control back in TSU's hand as they scored seven runs. A single run by the Braves in the bottom of the inning was not enough to continue the contest, and Texas Southern defeated Alcorn 17-7 in eight innings.

Gavin Caston led the Braves at the plate. He recorded three hits on four at-bats with two runs. On the mound, Kewan Braziel took the loss. He pitched for 4.0 innings with three strikeouts, eight walks, four hits, and six runs (four earned).

GAME TWO (L, 9-4)
Texas Southern again took an early lead, scoring eight runs across six innings while the Braves remained scoreless.

Alcorn brought its first runner home in the bottom of the seventh, added one in the eighth, and closed with two in the ninth, but it was not enough to get the Braves back in the game.

Garrett Palladino led the Braves offense with a 2-for-3 appearance for one run and one RBI. Chris Tillman also had two hits on four at-bats for one run and one RBI.

On the mound, Michael Lorenz was credited with the loss. He pitched for 3.0 innings with two strikeouts, five walks, no hits, and four runs (two earned).
