Braves Baseball Goes 1-2 in Series Against TSU

LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State baseball team showed a glimpse of what's to come for Braves Baseball program with their play in the final series of the season in Houston, Texas against Texas Southern. The Braves took game one of the series but were unable to holdoff the Tigers in the final two games.
 
Alcorn 5, Texas Southern 4
 
The Braves scored runs in the first and third innings taking an early 3-0 lead and never looked back. Both teams would score runs in the sixth and TSU was able to tie the score, 4-4. The score would remain the same through the final innings and the game would be decided in extra innings. Garrett Palladino scored in the tenth inning from a sacrifice fly ball hit by Jermel Ford which would go on to be the deciding run. 
 
Alcorn emptied the bullpen against the Tigers throwing nine different pitchers during the game. Kiki Ford Jr. was credited with the win throwing 2.2 innings. Tyler Daniels was a single away from hitting the cycle as he finished with a inside the park homerun along with a double and triple. 
 
Alcorn 10, Texas Southern 14
 
In game two of the series, the score was tied at two after one inning of play before the Braves would take a huge lead into the third. In the second inning, the Braves went onto score six runs including a homerun by Chris Tillman which made the score 8-2. Alcorn would only score two more runs in the game in the sixth inning before Texas Southern would go on a 7-0 run making the final score 10-14. 
 
Myles Dews was credited with the loss after throwing 1.1 innings. Kewan Braziel also saw action on the mound throwing 5.0 innings facing 24 batters. Tyler Daniels and Diego Lopez-Molina both accounted for three runs and two hits, respectively. 
 
Alcorn 9, Texas Southern 11
 
The Braves got out to another great start with runs in the first and second innings, before the Tigers took over the lead in the third making the score 5-2. In the fourth, Nathan Gamez hit a single driving in two runs bringing the deficit to 5-4. Dillion Crowell hit a grand slam homer in his next at bat giving Alcorn an 8-5 lead after four innings. TSU would go onto to score five runs between the fifth and eighth innings overtaking the lead, 11-8. Khalil Smith would score the final run for the Braves on a triple to left field by Gavin Caston
Austin Guzman was credited with the loss after throwing 1.2 innings allowing four hits and three runs. Four other pitchers saw action for the Braves including Jermel Ford who faced 17 batters.
