BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Despite a strong showing from senior
Destiny Brown, Alcorn State fell to UAB 76-51 on Sunday afternoon at Bartow Arena. The Lady Braves fought hard throughout the game but were unable to overcome a late push by the Blazers.
ASU falls to (2-8, 0-0 SWAC) while UAB improved to (6-3, 0-0 AAC).
Brown led the Lady Braves with 15 points, while
Kiarra Henderson contributed 12 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Zy'Nyia White added 11 points. Alcorn State displayed resilience in the third quarter, outscoring UAB 18-15, but the Blazers' depth and rebounding ultimately proved decisive.

First Quarter – UAB 17, Alcorn 15
- Destiny Brown set the tone early, scoring inside to keep the Lady Braves within striking distance.
- Kiarra Henderson's fastbreak layup and solid defensive stops helped Alcorn State stay within two points at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter – UAB 36, Alcorn 23
- UAB's three-point shooting created separation early in the quarter, as the Blazers opened on a 7-0 run.
- Brown and White provided scoring for the Lady Braves, but turnovers hindered ASU's ability to close the gap.
Third Quarter – UAB 51, Alcorn 41
- Alcorn State came out energized after halftime, shooting an impressive 53.8% from the floor in the third.
- Brown scored six points in the quarter, and Henderson converted key baskets to bring the Lady Braves within single digits at one point.
- Despite ASU's surge, UAB relied on their rebounding and free-throw shooting to maintain their lead.
Fourth Quarter – UAB 76, Alcorn 51
- The Blazers capitalized on Alcorn State's turnovers to pull away in the final frame, outscoring the Lady Braves 25-10.
- Henderson and White continued to battle, while Ashanti Backus added a late three-pointer for ASU.
