MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alcorn State University softball (4-8) traveled to Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the Annual HBCU Tournament. The Lady Braves fought hard but were defeated by Alabama A&M University (3-5) in the opening game, 3-7, and in the second game against Florida A&M University, 2-8.
    Against AAMU, Alcorn scored three runs on nine hits and committed seven errors.
Kristian Edwards went 2-of-4, scored one run, and batted one in.
Kelsey Lockridge went 2-of-4 and batted a run in.
Sarah Kennedy went 2-of-2, scored one run, and batted one in.
Olivia Miller went 1-of-3 and scored one run.
    For Alabama A&M, Madison Murray went 1-of-1 and batted two runs in. Zahria Jones went 1-of-2, scored one run, and batted three in. The Bulldogs scored seven runs, seven hits while committing no errors.
    The Bulldogs, Cris'Deona Beasley picked up the win with seven innings pitched allowing nine hits, three earned runs, walked two, and struck out seven. Beasley faced 30 batters.
    Ta'Niya Fletcher suffered the loss for the Alcorn with seven innings pitched allowing seven hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out three. Fletcher faced 34 batters.
    In the second game of the day, Alcorn scored two runs on three hits while committing two errors. Edwards went 2-of-3, batted two in, hit a double, and stole two bases.
Ka'Miya Dillon scored a run and went 1-of-2.
    FAMU (1-11) scored eight runs on nine hits while committing one error. Nyomi Jones scored one run and went 1-of-3. Brianna Duggins scored one run and went 1-of-3. Neriah Lee served as a pinch hitter for Duggins and scored a run. Jaibriel Terrell went 1-of-3 and batted one in. Samantha Smith scored one run and went 1-of-3. Nyah Morgan scored two runs, went 2-of-2 and batted one in. Kayla Alexandre scored one run, went 1-of-3 and batted one in. Monroe Oglesby scored one run and went 1-of-2.
    Samantha Smith (1-5) snapped up the win for the Lady Rattlers with 4.2 inning allowing one hit, two earned runs, walked four, and one wild pitch. Smith faced 19 batters.

Kiri Parker (2-2) suffered the loss for Alcorn with six innings allowing nine hits, eight runs (five earned runs), walked four, struck out eight, and had three wild pitches. Parker faced 32 batters.
