BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Head coach
Landon Bussie and Alcorn State University men's basketball traveled to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament. The Braves faced No. 7 seed Alabama A&M University on Wednesday afternoon. Alcorn State put up a great fight but was defeated by the Bulldogs, 63-75, and close the season with an overall record of 14-18 and 13-5 in SWAC play.
    ASU was led by
Jeremiah Gambrell with 16 points, one rebound and an assist. He was followed by
Dekedran Thorn with 12 points, four rebounds, one steal, and a block.
Jeremiah Kendall scored 11 points, snagged eight rebounds, dished out three assists, and came up with a steal. Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt recorded 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds.
Jalen Hawkins contributed six rebounds.
    The team was 37 percent from the field and 72 percent from free throw line. Alcorn State outscored the Bulldogs in the paint, 26-24, and on the fast break, 10-4.
    Alabama A&M (11-21) was led by Lorenzo Downey with 16 points, three rebounds and an assist. Omari Peek scored 16 points, pulled down five rebounds, and a steal. Cameron Tucker contributed six rebounds and three steals.
    Collectively, AAMU was 41.1 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from line.
