Nate Kilbert and Alcorn State University women's basketball sent shock waves through the conference with their wins over No. 3 seed Southern University and No. 2 seed Grambling State University in the first two rounds of tournament. However, the magical run came to an end as the Lady Braves were defeated in the championship game with Jackson State University, 44-68.
Alcorn closes the season with a regular season record of 12-20 and 8-10 in league play.
Destiny Brown earned All-SWAC Tournament team honors.
Kiarra Henderson led the team with 10 points, six rebounds, and a steal.
Nakia Cheatham also contributed 10 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Destiny Brown recorded seven points, two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. Zy'Nyia White tallied seven rebounds.
The team went 24.1 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from the free throw line.
Jackson State was led by Andriana Avent with 17 points, four rebounds and one block. Ti'lan Boler scored 13 points while recording seven rebounds and an assist. Hayleigh Breland tallied 11 points, two rebounds, and an assist. Miya Crump and Areyanna Hunter pulled down nine rebounds each.
As a team, the Lady Tigers went 32.8 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from the line.
