JACKSON, Miss. – Alcorn State University baseball traveled to Jackson State University for a three-game series and opened with a doubleheader on Saturday. In the doubleheader, Alcorn dropped both games to Jackson, 3-4 and 9-12.
Game One
Alcorn scored three runs on four hits with no errors.
Garrett Palladino and
Diego Lopez-Molina finished with a run and an RBI. Nico Garrett had an RBI.
JSU scored four runs on seven hits while committing three errors. Sebastian Cabeza had two hits and two RBIs. Lenny Montesano finished with a run and an RBI.
Garrett Van Deventer picked up the win for the Tigers with a complete game pitched for four runs (three earned), two walks, seven strikeouts, and faced 34 batters.
Kewan Braziel suffered the loss for the Braves with seven innings pitched for five hits, four runs, three strikeouts, and faced 31 batters.
Game Two
ASU finished the day with nine runs, eight hits while committing an error.
Kalum Banks, Jr. finished the game with three runs batted in off a home run, a hit, and a run.
Gavin Caston had three hits, two runs, and an RBI.
Jaylon Lucky finished with an RBI, a hit, and a run.
Samuel Leonard ended the game with an RBI.
Jackson State scored 12 runs on 12 hits while committing an error. Jordan McCladdie had four hits, three runs, and three runs batted in. Sebastian Cabeza finished the game with two runs and two batted in. Rodney Hibler ended the day with two hits and an RBI. Ledy Alvarez finished the game with a hit, a run, and a run batted in. Edward Gregory ended the day with two hits, three runs, and an RBI.
Isaiah Williams picked up the win for the Tigers with 5.2 innings pitched for five hits, five runs (four earned), six walks, 11 strikeouts, a balk, and faced 27 batters.
Guershon Exi suffered the loss for the Braves with 2.1 innings pitched for seven hits, six runs (four earned), four walks, two strikeouts, a wild pitch, and faced 18 batters.
