Saintil Earns Top Marks, Braves Compete at Ole Miss Classic

OXFORD, Miss. – Alcorn State University men's outdoor track and field team competed in the Ole Miss Classic hosted by the University of Mississippi over the weekend. Jeremiah Saintil and the Braves 4x400-meter relay team found themselves at the top of their event as the team went head-to-head with schools such as the University of Memphis, Southeast Missouri State University, and Harding University.
 
            Saintil came in third place in the triple jump with a flight of 13.96 meters (45' 9.75"). Jaden Smith of Indiana State finished in first place with 14.68 meters (48' 2") while Luke Busateri of Southeast Missouri took second place with 14.19 meters (46' 6.75").
 
            Alcorn's 4x400-meter relay team of Arrington Robinson, Johnny Holloway, III, Terrell White, and Trellas Forrest finished in fourth place in 3:15.92. Pittsburg State (A) came in first place in 3:10.79. Indiana State (A) took second place in 3:15.04 while Southeast Missouri finished in third place in 3:15.75.
 
            Amiri Franklin, Jaidon Shelby, and Jabri Jackson competed for the Braves in the 100-meter dash. Franklin finished in 11.26 seconds and Shelby crossed the finish line in 11.52 seconds. Jackson ended the race in 11.58 seconds. Dapriest Hogans (Pittsburg State) claimed first place in 10.39 seconds while his teammate, Xavier Carmichael, came in second place in 10.44 seconds. Unattached runner, Tevin Wright-Rose, came in third place in 10.49 seconds.
 
            In the 200-meter run, Forrest finished in 22.06 seconds and Robinson crossed the finish line in 22.36 seconds. Dakarai Bush (Harding) took first place in 21.30 seconds while Hogans (Pittsburg State) came in second place in 21.33 seconds. Daunte Majors finished in third place in 21.44 seconds. 
 
            Holloway and Jaden Ramos ran in the 400-meter run. Holloway finished in 51.26 seconds and Ramos ended the race in 55.40 seconds. Bush (Harding) claimed first place in 46.89 seconds. Sam Tudor (Pittsburg State) took second place in 47.53 seconds and his teammate, Woyn Chatma, came in third place in 47.70 seconds. 
 
            In the 800-meter run, White finished in 2:01.75 and Kendrick Matthews crossed the finish line in 2:02.42. Chase Rose (Mississippi) won first place in 1:49.84 while Terrico Garrett (Southeast Missouri) came in second place in 1:50.33. Landen McNair (Mississippi) took third place in 1:51.83.
 
            Tyson Keys and Shylan Bradford competed for ASU in the shot put. Keys finished with a flight of 13.78 meters (45' 2.5") while Bradford had a flight of 8.76 meters (28' 9"). Tarik Robinson-Hogan (Mississippi) came in first place with a flight of 20.69 meters (67' 10.75"). Brett Norton (Indiana State) took second place with a flight of 17.57 meters (57' 7.75"). Paden Lewis (Southeast Missouri) claimed third place with a flight of 17.47 meters (57' 3.75").
 
            Alcorn State will be back in action at the Pelican Relays hosted by Southern University from April 5-6 in Baton Rouge, La.
