LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University women's basketball celebrated their season in the last home game of the regular season against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday afternoon. Seniors

Akyriale Ford,
Kailyn Watkins,
Nakia Cheatham, and
Ashanti Backus were the honorees for the game as Alcorn bested UAPB, 59-52. With the win, the Lady Braves sit at sixth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and earn their way into the league tournament next week.
    ASU outscored Arkansas-Pine Bluff in points off turnovers, 13-10, in the paint, 18-12, and in points off the bench, 10-3.
    Zy'Nyia White was the leader for Alcorn with 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. She was followed by
Tyginae Wright with 13 points, one assist, and one steal. Cheatham racked up a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Destiny Brown accounted for 11 points and four rebounds.
Kiarra Henderson tallied 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Nia McCalphia recorded a team-high seven assists.
    As a team, Alcorn went 38 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
    The leader for the Lady Golden Lions was Maya Peat with 14 points and eight rebounds. Zaay Green and Kaila Walker scored 14 points each. Green also recorded nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Walker accounted for six rebounds and two steals.
    The team went 28.8 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the stripe.
